How to turn a virtual assistant to personal assistant

You may be well aware that the recent trends in the business arena are not giving room to lazy, unprofessional and ‘supervision prone’ employees. These are actually risky business times.

The laws in many countries are so stringent, that hiring a professional or maintaining them has to call for extra cash to be able to meet the minimum set wages and salaries.

Getting to hire the right professional can be quite challenging. Most small and medium scale organizations do not have resources to maintain the top notch talent in the various fields of specialization. This can actually inhibit their business growth.

A virtual assistant can actually save costs significantly. This is because you will only need to pay when services are ordered, no supervision  as he or she is also in business, no statutory labor requirements as they are self employed, etc. The benefits can actually be held with no comparison with a full time employee.

What is expected of you to grow that relationship that will move from Virtual assistant status to personal assistant status?

One thing is that you must be specific on what you want the VA to do. Be clear before you set to engage, and also ensure that he or she has the information. Try to avoid word of mouth instructions.
Secondly, let him or her understand your schedule, including the nature of your business so well. That will make the Virtual Assistant fit well in your program.

Be flexible with your Virtual Assistant when it calls for that. Don’t be too rigid on instructions. Allow your VA room for creativity and exercise of personal initiatives but not to the detriment of your business.

In addition, if it means delegation, let it beso if youn have trusted someone. Most employers fail to understand tha VA’s can have a great input in business. They can gude you and offer professional advice as well.

The last thing most employers want to do is provide extra  motivation to the VA. Motivation may mean you even saying ‘thank you’ and giving a token of appreciation when the case warrants
