The Purpose of Market Research for Entrepreneurs

Let’s face it; market research is not the most fun side of becoming an entrepreneur.  Unfortunately, market research is necessary and should be performed by entrepreneurs.  Market research aids entrepreneurs by proving market demand either in the form or a product or service.  Research marketing can also aid with the decision of where you can move your business.

Market research is helpful to your business in many different ways -:

Market research can aid your business in other aspects.  This type of research can aid your business in understanding what kind of people, demographically are a part of your target market.  How people are within the target market?  How many of people within this target market are receiving services from competitors?  These are very important things which market research can aid you as an entrepreneur.  You will also find out how your business can attract more customers through market research.

Questions to ask in determining potential for your services or products -:

When utilizing market research, you want to determine the potential for services or products within the marketplace.  You want to check out the services and products before you introduce them to customers.  Some of the questions to answer within this particular phase are as follows:

I.    How much or often do customers purchase this service or product?

II.    What are customers paying for these services or products?

III.    How are the customers changing as time goes on?  How are the needs of these customers being met?

IV.    How can your service or product change to meet the needs of these customers?

These questions do sound very similar to performing a market analysis however, market research is different.  Market analysis is the overall study of information in relation to the market where market research looks at the service or product specifically and how it will fare within the marketplace.
