Take Time To Breathe Before 2010 As a Virtual Assistant

With the New Year on its way it is time to take a breath and reflect on last year.  As a virtual assistant this is an excellent time also to look back over your business year and decide how you can improve your business for the coming year.

No doubt there are some attributes of your business that went well, but there are also some that probably did not go as well as you wished.  Thus, now is the time to reflect on how you can change so that in 2010 you can watch your virtual assistant clientele continue to grow.

A great way to kick off your January is to plan a day in which you step back and devote the day to looking at your past year in full.  Consider setting up a spreadsheet in Word or PowerPoint and compiling a list of everything positive that has happened this year with your business.

Then create a second counterpart document that lists the items that you would like to improve on as a virtual assistant.  Perhaps you want more clients or need to learn better time management skills.  Regardless of where you identify your weaknesses make sure to include them on a list.

Now that you can look objectively at what went well and what needs improvement you can sit back and develop a list of goals for your coming business year.  This is important because once your goals are realized you can start to brainstorm about the best ways to reach your goals.  For instance, if you need to improve your time management skills you may want to think about delegating some tasks to other people.

If you work online this may also be the time to consider hiring an additional employee to help you.  Having an assistant means that you can take a break from time to time which will help you become more productive while at work.  It also means that you have someone else to account to which may be all that you need in order to keep on track this year.
